Mine Hill Township
Morris County, New Jersey

Township Advisory 02/12/14 11:00 AM – STREET PARKING BANNED Wednesday Night through Saturday

This is an emergency message from the Township of Mine Hill & The Wharton/Mine Hill Police Department. The Township is urging residents to be prepared for the upcoming snow event.

The National Weather service has issued a Winter Storm Warning from Midnight Wednesday through Friday morning.  We may experience up to a foot of snow possibly followed by ice.

The storm brings with it heavy snow and strong winds with gusts in the 20 to 30 mile range which will put added pressure on the power lines.  Be prepared for possible power loss.

The Township’s salt supplies are extremely low.  We will be focusing our salt efforts on the mainly on hills.  Please avoid traveling unless absolutely necessary.

Street Parking is banned from 8 PM, Wednesday 12th until 6 PM Saturday 15th.

The Department of Public Works will be plowing the roadways beginning tonight throughout Saturday.  They will be using plows, backhoe’s and dump trucks to clear unsafe snow piles on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Ordinance 10.24.050 states: no parking during snow events until “the streets have been plowed sufficiently and to the extent that parking will not interfere with the normal flow of traffic”.

With the winter storm approaching we would like to remind residents and visitors that vehicles are not permitted to park on the roadway during the storm and must remain off the roadways until the streets have been cleared.

Vehicles parked in the roadways during the storm will be ticketed and towed.

Residents are asked to clear the snow off their vehicles off on their property and not in freshly plowed streets and not to put your snow back in the street from your property.  You will be fined if you do so.  Any vehicles that are removed from your property to the roadways in order to remove snow from your driveways should be attended at all times to avoid being ticketed and towed.  Once your area is cleared, immediately move your vehicle off the roadway onto your property.
