Voting in the Primary Election

All active Republicans and Democrats have received a Mail In Ballot for Tuesday’s Primary.  Unaffiliated Voters have also been given the opportunity to declare a party and Vote by Mail.  If you have not received a ballot and wish to vote by mail, please contact the Morris County Clerk’s Office as soon as possible at 973-285-6066.

To cast your Mail in Ballot, you can either mail the Ballot in the prepaid postage envelope provided, postmarked no later than July 7th, or place the Ballot in Vote by Mail Dropbox.  Dropbox location and security information is available here:  https://morriscountyclerk.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/Primary-VBM-Drop-Box-Locations-061620.pdf
If you wish to vote in person, you can do so by visiting the consolidated polling location at the Civic Center.  The polls at the Civic Center will be open 6AM to 8PM on July 7th.  ALL voters will be required to vote by Provisional Ballot (exceptions made for ADA reasons – an accessible device will be provided).
For voting in person, masks are strongly encouraged but not required.  Social distancing, including following all instructions from Poll Works and/or Law Enforcement, IS required.  Hand sanitizer will be available, and all pens used to vote Provisional Ballots will be discarded after each voter.

Free Bike Helmets

Any children from Wharton or Mine Hill in need of a bike helmet can visit to obtain one for free at the police station 10 Robert St # 2, Wharton, NJ 07885 or call 973-366-0557. Thank you Wharton/Mine Hill PD! Please bike safely and always wear a helmet.

Beach Parking Lot Closed

Effective today, Mine Hill Beach is closed to vehicles until further notice. The beach is closed for legal swimming anyway and in evenings it is becoming an attraction for unwanted activity. The Beach will still be open for pedestrian traffic for dog walking, trails, and bicycle. You may still carry in a kayak or canoe, but vehicles towing boat trailers will not have access. We apologize for the inconvenience, and play to reopen to vehicles in a couple of weeks.

Parks Reopening

We are reopening all municipal parks and facilities with the exception of climbing playgrounds. Non-contact sports will be allowed such as passive basketball, tennis, recreational non-contact baseball, softball, and non-contact soccer – basically not getting too close in contact with other players. We strongly encourage the use of masks and social distancing. Do your best using your own discretion, and please protect your children as you see fit. The police department will keep an eye on gatherings that may be too large and will enforce safety guidelines. We have not received clearance from our insurer to open the beach at this time.
